Patients' Satisfaction with Nursing Care in a Level 1 Government Hospital in Negros Island Region, Philippines
Abstract
This descriptive-comparative study assessed patient satisfaction with nursing care at a Level 1 government hospital in the Negros Island Region, Philippines. Using the Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire (PSNCQQ), data were collected from 341 respondents via stratified sampling. Analysis through Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis H tests revealed an overall "very satisfied" rating, particularly regarding information delivery and discharge education. While demographics like age and income showed no significant impact, satisfaction levels varied significantly by hospital area and duration of stay. Patients in pediatric and obstetric wards, as well as those with longer admissions, reported higher satisfaction than outpatient counterparts. The findings suggest that the care setting and interaction frequency are significant to the patient experience. The results highlight the necessity of optimizing service delivery in high-volume units and strengthening nurse-patient engagement to sustain high-quality, people-centered healthcare.
